Thanks on a Summer Night

I stand on this high hill tonight,
O Lord, and lift my heart in thanks
For summer gifts You have
Bestowed on me, thru’ sun-drenched days….
For rows of tall green corn
That march triumphantly
Across the valley floor, for orchards
Heavy-laden, for shocks of golden wheat
To thresh and store for winter use,
For fragrant hay piled high within my barn.
You have been more than generous
With summer rains and warm nights,
Heaven-made for growing-things<
Now, my heart sings a chant of praise,
I raise my voice in gratitude.
“O Lord, I sing out to a million
Singing stars. “You have been good….
Entrusting to my humble care
Such gifts as these, with but one
Admonition……that I share!”
