Prepare Your Heart

With arms out-stretched, He died on Calvary,
He died that all men might be free
Of sin’s dark stain,
And yet, how often we disdain
The gift He gave.
How weak is mortal flesh He died to save
That it must stoop to greed
And selfishness and hate.
Haste now, before the closing of life’s gate,
Erase all taint of sin before it is too late.
Make of your heart a garden filled with grace,
A fragrant, sunlit place where Christ, the Risen One,
May enter-in and dwell content as it was meant
He should the day He died for you and me
Upon that dark and pain-swept hill of Calvary!
