Housewife’s Plea

Accept, O Lord, this lesser part
Which I must give.
The little homely tasks I do
Whereby my loved-ones live
In comfort. and in sweet content
As loving hearts were meant
To be. There is so much of me that goes
Into the mending of their clothes,
Into the baby’s bath, and little things
I do for Dick and Joe.
Even now, as I try to pray, I am
Still trembling from rushing so.
Yet, You must know, O Lord Divine,
The depth of love that’s truely mine,
Must know that all I do
I do for You.
I who must play the housewife’s part.
I who have Martha’s hands.
And Mary’s heart!
